The Pond (not to be confused with Crime Lake), is still in existence,
It is in Salford, one of Lowry's regular walking areas
He was able to witness, much activity, and gain an enormous amount of work for his paintings, at such a busy location.
This is a typical painting by Lowry, and shows not only the population all going about their particular business,
but also the intensive industrial background that was such a strong feature in their lives.
